Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Submissions

  1. Journal of Metaverse Research (JMR) accepts for review only manuscripts that have not been published previously in any language and are not being reviewed for possible publication in other journals.
  2. Submissions must be made via the journal's submission system at https://journal.scieve.org/index.php/jmr/about/submissions
  3. The JMR applies a double-blind review process. The author(s) and the reviewers of the submitted manuscript remain anonymous in order to guarantee the impartial and fair review of the manuscripts.
  4. The JMR is an open-access journal. There are no charges for publication in the journal.

Types of Publications

  1. Regular articles are comprehensive research papers, typically ranging from 6,000 to 8,000 words. While the specific structure may be adapted to best suit the paper's focus, contributions should generally include an introduction, literature review, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusion. Authors are encouraged to provide a thorough and well-supported analysis of their research.
  2. Research notes are concise contributions, typically between 1,500 and 2,000 words. These papers are ideal for presenting focused research findings, preliminary results, or innovative ideas that benefit from a shorter format.
  3. The Industry Best Practices section features industry case studies between 2,000 and 2,500 words. These contributions are predominantly practical and knowledge-intensive, offering valuable insights derived from real-world applications and successful implementations. Submissions in this category must include the following sections: a company description, project summary, project details, feedback from end users, future outlook, and conclusion.
  4. All regular articles, research notes, and case studies submitted to the Industry Best Practices section undergo a double-blind review process. Each submission will be reviewed by at least two anonymous referees to ensure impartiality and academic rigour.
  5. Book reviews should be up to 1500 words and contain the following information: author(s) or editor(s) for edited books, title, publisher, ISBN, year of publication, number of pages, original language of publication, summary of the content, and how this book contributes to tourism knowledge.
  6. Book reviews should be up to 1,500 words and contain the following essential information: author(s) or editor(s) (for edited books), title, publisher, ISBN, year of publication, number of pages, and original language of publication. The review should also provide a summary of the content and clearly articulate how the book contributes to knowledge of the Metaverse.
